On Tuesday afternoon, Francesa
generously drove me and five other members of our community to Queen’s
Park, the beautiful building at the heart of downtown Toronto where
Members of Provincial Parliament meet. Lorenzo and Kara had arranged
to meet us there, so we were a group of nine. Amanda, Darryl, Francesa,
Gordie, Kara, Kim, Lorenzo, Tom and I were welcomed into the Members’
Gallery by Dr. Reza Moridi, the Member of Provincial Parliament for
Richmond Hill. Dr. Moridi had invited us because he was making a special
tribute, in front of the sitting Parliament, to L’Arche Daybreak in
celebration of our 40th Anniversary. The session of Parliament
opened with the Speaker inviting Dr. Moridi to introduce us, which he
did personally, announcing each of our names. One by one, we stood to
face the legislators in the grand, historic chamber. Dr. Moridi delivered
a beautiful tribute to Daybreak. It was a very special
afternoon!
