Community Retreat Day

Taize Brothers – Emile and LucasFebruary 25, 2014 – Our Journey Together was the theme for this year’s Community Retreat Day, a wonderful day with two monks, Brother Emile and Brother Lucas, from the Taizé Community in France. The Taizé Community has journeyed together with L’Arche from its very early days, and there were many good stories to tell. We watched a DVD about the Taizé Community which gave people here an idea of what it’s like there.

Of course, we prayed in the tradition of Taizé with songs and chants, as we often do. We also moved to the beat of Taizé with eight groups, each developing creative movements to accompany the lyrics of a Taizé chant. It was beautiful – and fun! Brother Emile and Brother Lucas found us a very joyful community, and they really enjoyed our day together. Marianne Larcina came up to them immediately when the retreat ended and asked, “When are you coming back?”
