cs_CandlesCreative Crafting with L’Arche – Workshop #1 Chunk Candle Making
Learn the basics of chunk candle making using colored wax chips and shapes to create beautiful one of a kind candles. Discover the materials and equipment that are used in the Daybreak studio and the history and development of our current candle making studio Discuss how to adapt this process to be able to make candles at home.
Participants will design and assemble a candle that can be picked up at a later date. A material fee of $3- $10 (depending on the size of candle chosen by participant) will be collected at the beginning of the course.

Participants will utilize the Daybreak studio’s production equipment to make handmade paper to use for cards, invitations etc… Learn the basics of handmade papermaking to include preparing pulp, pulling a sheet of paper, drying the paper. A discussion is included on how to adapt the process to make simple hand made paper at home using recycled paper. A material fee of

Create visually interesting cards for any occasion Participants will learn about how handmade paper is produced and using various paper made from a variety of fibre (cotton, abaca, hemp, denim), you will make a set of five cards. Try different designs, additions such as glitter, seed paper, metal wire and paper punches! A material fee of $5 will be collected at the beginning of the course.
