Dancing the River

DTR-imageDancing the River, our 40th Anniversary Gala, was an inspiring and thoroughly entertaining evening. The show played to a full house at the Richmond Hill Centre for the Performing Arts. It was the first sold-out performance in the history of this lovely new theatre. Lieutenent Governor David Onley gave the opening address at the pre-gala gathering. Daybreak’s founder, Steve Newroth, also gave a moving talk.

Cheryl Zinyk, Artistic Director of L’Arche Toronto’s theatre group Sol Express, directed Dancing the River. The play was poignant and prophetic, celebrating all that it means to be human. The story was provoking and magical, hopeful and humorous as it led us to learn much from the wise river.

An auction of core member artwork was also held before the Gala in the Centre’s exhibit hall. The silent auction was a huge success.

The Gala was held on May 12th, 2009.
