The Richmond Hill Centre for the Performing Arts will be the venue for an art show throughout the month of April featuring artists from L’Arche Daybreak. L’Arche Daybreak Artists: With Our Own Hands will be on display at the Richmond Hill Centre for the Performing Arts Monday-Saturday 10am-6pm and 1 hour prior to all ticketed performances. Closed Sundays unless a performance is taking place.

Jacquie Boughner, a professional artist from Richmond Hill who is a long-time friend of L’Arche Daybreak, has reflected deeply on the art of core members and has cited this quote from Marshall McLuhan: “The artist picks up the message of cultural and technical challenge decades before its transforming impact occurs… and then builds models for Noah’s arks for facing the change that is ahead.” Jacquie, who has spoken publicly about her experience of art in L’Arche, writes:

Those with intellectual disabilities have been called ‘artisans of the heart’ by Jean Vanier, the founder of L’Arche. In this exhibition, the L’Arche Daybreak artists create works full of joy, life and peace — a perspective of the heart with which to view and engage the world and society in which we live. These artists encourage us to trust our own hearts and hands of creativity in facing the changes in our world today.
