On Friday evening, our tradition has been to gather in our homes for a special meal together. After the meal we took time to each make a commitment to the home. Some made a promise to take the garbage out everyday, others to do the gardening and yard work over the year. Volunteers and friends also made commitments to the home, to be present and to spend time nurturing relationships and friendships. We gathered on Saturday morning at the Kortright Centre near Kleinburg. We had fun making artwork, dancing, making music, performing skits, and singing “happy birthday” to ourselves with our 45th anniversary cake! David Harmon, who has lived in L’Arche longer than anyone else in North America had the honours of cutting the cake.
Agnieszka and Kim talked about their trip to France to see Jean Vanier and to celebrate, with thousands of others, the 50th anniversary of L’Arche in the world. You can see their slideshow by clicking here.
